Saturday Money Saving Tips and calorie/minute thread

It pays to shop around. I spent less than what I was told to spend which left me with more money when sales popped up later this week at the grocery store. Keep, buy the basics in healthy food. What you don't spend leave available to get the additional things you typically wouldn't get unless they were on sale.

Currently, we have $30.00 in 12 packs of cokes in a secondary fridge. yes, I said $30.00, it is my Dh's one thing he must have besides coffee. Well, when the cokes are normally $6.00 a 12 pack, we kind go crazy when they go on sale. Not to mention, I normally don't buy ice cream but they had breyers on sale for a $1.99 that could be priced matched at wal-mart. So, we now have ice cream. Don't buy ice cream unless it goes on sale under $2.00. Cokes buy what you can on sale and limit your consumation down to the bare necessaties.

Excerise 60 minutes with strollerize class (I'm so soar after two weeks of nothing), and three hours cleaning yesterday. Grand total, 240 minutes of movement. Don't ask me to open up my chest for a deep breathing excerise, it won't go this morning.

Tuesday Product Review and Calorie/Minute Thread

I returned these videos from the library called basic math with intergers. I thought they would help my oldest with a math test. No so much. Yes, they show the basic concept of adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing but that's it. It only shows one problem and that's all folk's. I could not recommend this as a "tutoring" item because it really doesn't tutor much. Trail and error. Let's just say my oldest flunked the math test yesterday.

Yesterday I cleaned, ran an errands, and started to feel better. give me 90 mimutes if moving.

Monday Resturant Review and minute/calorie thread

Resturant review:

Barro's Pizza Place-we were greeted by a nausating smell at the door. It faded slightly but no by much. The pizza was very greasy. Though they made sure the cheese covered the entire crust unlike most pizza places. After leaving the pizza place most of my family became nausated and had horrible gas. I would say, I probably won't be going back. Since they serve this kind of pizza at my kids school, they will be taking their lunch on those days for sure per my husband not me.

Jack-in-the-box: One the cook's made sure I had dressings and other items on my burger even though I requested no mayo. Wow first time this has ever happened. Yes, most places when you hear no mayo they remove the lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. Leaving you with bread, meat, and cheese. Though this not a healthy choice, I can say if I am in a hurry, I would have my order correct. Their tacos are deep fried which I didn't know when we ordered the combo. When a burger joint out does a pizza a joint that says something.

I got about 45 minutes of walking for geocaching.

Sunday Quotes..calories/minutes thread

No real minutes here for me. Still not feeling up to par.

Okay taking a break from the health magazine this week and focusing on personal quote from me.

No matter how much, your mate or spouse may be bugging you like say being mean with teasing or ignoring if they come through in a time of need. Its not you, don't take it personally. Its them. So, here's the scenerio.

Thursday is Teacher Appreciation Luncheon hosted by the entire third grade class. Yes, all 5 classes, and the families of those in the classes. We have spent months planning, organizing, and calling people to ensure that we have enough food and drink donated.

We have laid all donated food, and catered food out. We are in the process of swapping out deserts for those teachers not yet come. I squat down low in my most comfortable, flattering jeans I have, then I hear rip and feel cool air breeze across my backside! Ikes, I am literarily "mooning" the world if I stand up with out a jacket.
Another mom, let's me borrow a jacket, thinking its that time of the month, I don't get those any more(that story is for another day).
I text my Dh to let him know that my only pair of jeans has ripped and i have to get a new pair this weekend.
He text back if I am home or not.
I said no.
I was still at the school.
He offered to bring me a new pair of pants., because he was close to our home.
Black ones please.
He delivers my only dress pair of slacks to change into.

Gotta love my Dh. He at least tries at time when I wouldn't think he gave flying rat's tail.

Tuesday Product Review and Calorie/Minute Thread

If you call countless trips to the bathroom, muscle spasms, and hours of agony then put me down for 48 hours of hell on earth. I have a uti. I have tried finding a new doctor but they have a two week waiting list to get in. So, I have called my old doctor 2 hours away. Yes, two hours away to see what can be done. No return phone call from them yet.

Have you ever used herbal rememdies for uti's? If you haven't here are some recommendations I found on the web.
Golden seal

oregan grape

Cranberry (unsweetened juice, capsules, or berries)

Uva ursi

Horseradish root

Also proantiboditics are really good for promoting good health over all.

Sunday Quotes..calories/minutes thread

yesterday I got about 60 minutes walking around..no joke.

Today we are examing the article from Health Magazine on Page 96-99 entitled, Easy Moves for a Super Clean House. They list 10 areas in your home they need to be cleaned and could contribute to manifesting germs. Just a review of the titles here.

1. Kitchen sink, countertops, and sponges.-This is a no brainer. I don't use sponges. I use washclothes and plastic scrubs that can be washed in the washer or the dish washer.

2. Your cutting boards-I genereal pour vinegar or soap; both sometimes over the cutting board after use. I scrub, rinse, and put in the dish washer.

3. Wet Laundry-I generally try not to have wet laundry. It will mild dew easily in more humid climates.

4. Your toothbrush-I replace mine every six months or after a bad cold or sickness.

5. The bathtub-they generally get cleaned 1-2x's weekly. I use a mueller borox 20/20 with arm harmer super washing powder with liquid dish washing soap for my shower. I have a fiberglass bottom that does not respond well to bleach based cleaners.

6.Your cell phone and other tech stuff. Before wiping down such items. Unplug from power, check with an it guy for the best way to do this. In general just a damp not soaking wet rag can be "gently" wiped across surfaces. I do mean check with your it person in the family. They have come out with some serious special stuff for certain types of electronics.

7.The bathroom floor-come one this is a no brainer..guys don't always aim straight and us ladies sometimes don't sit all the way down on the toilet at times and don't forget the wonderful mother nature visit monthly.

8. Your shoes-Asians cultures have this down pat. They don't wear shoes in the house. The take them off at the front or back doors. This keeps you from tracking in "germs" and other messes. Maybe we should take a que from them. Instill a shoe rack at the front and place our shoes there instead of our closets.

9.The Bedroom-Come on, if you don't change the sheets one the body odor from sweat and other things can be over whelming, not to mention if you get frisky with your partner do you really want others to know what goes in the bedroom? Change the sheets and PILLOW CASES weekly. Doing so keeps down your allergies and other illness. If you have a high headboard, use lemon oil to dust with instead of a aerosal based dust cleaner. It will fee the wood moisture, and make it easier to clean. Yeah, its old school but maybe the pops and mops knew something we didn't.

10.Dust Spots-I live in the desert. I am consistently dusting. No joke. You set something down and 24-48 hours inside it will be covered with dust. If you are an allergy family as we are, vaccum this up first then dust. I heard a what, what from the back out there. Most newer vaccums have special filters that trap algens that trigger attacks. Then use a polish to help. I vaccum my tables and other things before dusting. It helps tremdisouly.

You don't like all the over powering cleaners out there but wants something easier on the nose. Well, a few months ago I posted on how to make your cleaners. Yes, people you can. Did you know that our ancestors did this for years before bleach was available and many of them lived to be over 100 years old. Makes you want to go hmmm..Scrolled down to 2009 and I'm sure its there.

Sssh don't tell my husband, I've been doing this for months, since we ran out of pinesol. Guess, what he says the house smells cleaner, and looks cleaner. Hee heee, haaa haaa super big laughing moment if he's technical brain would detechnicalize I would tell him but nope. Not gonna. A girl has to have a few secrets of her own.

Friday Menu and calorie/minute thread

Well, my menu isn't so much. We have company coming in. This means anything that I have had planned will be put on the back burner to wait until after they.

I am getting lots of ads for meat and chicken. yes, meat and chicken. You know what this mean? Stock up, break up, and freeze for later on to use.

Who's got what grocery wise? Stay tuned for tomorrow to see my list of pickins.

Minutes-six hours of cleaning and straightening. I'm exhaugsted.

Thursday Motivating Music and Calorie/Minute Thread

No new music yet. I am waiting for cd's from the library to explore.

Yesterday put me down for three hours of work. Yes, three hours of constantly moving. That would 180 minutes. I'm tired.

Tuesday Product Review

running shoes, ah my love hate relationship with them. I started running a couple of years ago. I really enjoy it. I found a pair by Champion at TArget I loved to wear and went through them every six months faithfully. Then Target quit making that shoe in that brand or rather Champion did at that point, I had moved from the Southeast region to the Southwest region of the States. I was so bummed and needed a new pair of running shoes like a teething dog needs a thick bone.

So, my Dh took me to a place call the Road Runner store. They measured, tested my feet, and had me run (yes) run on a tred mill. Needless, to say, we bought a pair of Nike Zoom Vomero. I fought my Dh like a tigger fighting for his dinner about spending $120.00 on a pair of running shoes. Though, my Dh said, we wouldn't regret it. Guess, what, I never once had to break in my shoes, my feet never felt weird in the shoes. They were and are a piece of heaven.

Now, everyone press their fastforward button to this evening. That experience I am speaking of happend 18 months ago, one 5k race ago, and 5ks nearly 5 days a week. My Nikes are worn out from use. I need a new pair of running shoes.

My dh saw an ad for avia running shoes at Dick's Sporting Goods. He said, they are only $30.00 how about trying those out in the store and see if they could replace your Nikes. I said okay. Well, we tried them. They sucked! The shoes that is. After trying to run in them, walk in them, and by golly just wear them, I had shin splints so bad that I haven't been able to excerise like I was for a week tomorrow. Not only that, but my back has hurt too. Here is the letter I emailed to Avia concering their shoes.

"To Whom It May Concern,

My husband recently purchased me a pair of the Avia Cantilever Running Shoe for Christmas from Dick’s Sporting Good Store. We verified with the shoe employee that they were a neutral soul shoe before purchasing.

When I first tried them on they seemed fine. So, I went running in them as I would have when I wore my Nike Zoom Voremo. Unfortunately, now, they do not hold up to what they are suppose to do. They did not support me in a way that was positive. I came home with shine splints, my arch feeling like it had been stabbed by your arch support repeatedly, both left and right big toes felt and still feel like I have cactus thorns shooting through the bottoms up through the nail beds, and my back it feels like someone took a baseball bat to it. My normal run time for a 10 k when from an hour to an hour 40 minutes because I could not run and nor could barely walk the rest of the way home. I had to force myself to continue moving forward because I had no one available to come get on my route. My family members could not take off from their employment to come rescue me.

Now, that I have run outside with them. I will not be able to return them to the store I purchased them from. I thought maybe I could get dr scholl’s inserts to help with the situation but after having to apply ice all day the conculsion would be a no that it would not help. I need new shoes to run in. After a year and half running in my Nike zoom Vomeros, I really need a new pair but can’t afford the price tag of the shoes that are so comfortable. From the first day, I put them they will like being wrapped in a downy comforter, soft, cozy, and I never wanted to take them off.

I have owned a pair of avia when I first started running and liked them very much. This time though, I can honest say, I hate the way the shoes make me feel and would love to return them for the price I paid for them. Unfortunately, I can say these are not a neutral soul shoe, and they are not something I would recommend to others to wear. I hate being negative about anything because word of mouth is how things are made and broken.

I took pictures of what my legs and arch looked like after today if needed. "

It took the company 48 hours to reply to my email with this email.

" Dear Valued AVIA Customer,At AVIA (American Sporting Goods), we stand by our products and we are committed to providing our customers with quality products and services. We do understand at times there will be manufacturer defects and we are prepared to review those situations. First step is to contact the retailer where the product was purchased to initiate the exchange of the defective merchandise. However, if the retailer is unable to assist you we are able to accept a onetime return accommodation on one pair of shoes. If the product is deemed a manufacturer defect and the shoe has been worn a reasonable amount, we will replace it with either the same product or a comparable model. If you do not have a receipt, we will make a onetime accommodation for you. Please indicate when and where the shoes were purchased and that will be sufficient for the return process.
Return your package to:American Sporting Goods10140 SW Allen BlvdSuite BBeaverton, OR 97005

We will do our best to accommodate your needs and will replace your shoe with either the same model (if available) or a similar model of our choosing. All exchanges are final. Please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery. Sincerely,AVIA Customer ServiceAmerican Sporting Goods888.855.AVIA"

All I have to say is not only does their shoes suck but their customer service sucks too! I can guarantee you this household won't be purchasing any of their shoes ever again.

I forgot to mention, that I sent Dick's Sporting Goods a copy of the email. Expect they never responded to it. Oh, we took the shoes back to the store within the 14 days policy for a return no questions ask. If they would not take them back then I would be still dealing with Avia.

So, what's my point to the lengthy thread. Well, one find a shoe and a brand stick withit no matter the cost unless you have to switch like I did.

Nike Zoom Vomero an absolutely hands, fingers, feet, and toes high fives for this product. Now, if Nike would just send me a complimentary pair for just being me. Then I guess I would be in heaven. Reality is they won't and haven't ever done that for their customers.

Don't buy Avia brand period.

Dick's Sporting Good Store customer service may suck via the email but if you are within the 14 day period take it back to the store for no questions asked.

Tuesday Daily Cailore and Minute Thread

Monday Resturant Review and minute/calorie thread

so, this weekend we had to eat out because we "tagged" along with DH on one of his work sites. There was a mall across from the resturant. So, the two wonderful children and I spent about three-four hours walking around the mall.

We shared a snack from Aunt Annies Preztel shack a combo meal that was suppose to be $3.50 turned out to be $6.50. That's an expensive snack for this family...yikes. I won't be returning just because of the price. Even though the majority of the stuff was oversized the prize over sized my little wallet.

Then we ate lunch late in the food court because DH was done at the site and frankly I wasn't in the mood for anything expensive. We ate a place called Rubios Mexican Grill/Cantina. Well, I wasn't impressed. I wasn't going to mention that to do DH. The sauce yucko! It had a smoky barque taste that just didn't hit me right. The bean and cheese burritto was an excellent size in a whole wheat tortilla (nice to have that option). The taste was not so much worth what we paid for the combo plate ($5.00). Dh's was slightly higher and had fish in it. I think I will request something else including McDonald's which will shock the begeezies out of my DH when I do.

Needless, to say, I have had difficulties with my stomach since then. Let's just say the porcelian goddess got lots of offerring in the last 24 hours. It should be happy for awhile. It wasn't my gall bladder. This was different time of stomach pain and nausea. Can't put my finger on it. I usually give a place two tries but I don't want to see fast food for awhile.

Tuesday Product Review

Hamburger and Tuna Helper meals-quick easy but are they really that healthy for us.

let's examine the label:
Enriched Pasta (wheat flour, Niacin, Ferrous Sulfate, thiamine mononirate, riboflavin, folic acid)

Corn Starch

Salt

Enriched flour (wheat flour, niacin, iron, thiamin monoitrate, riboflavin, folic acid)

whey (not necessary good)

matodextrin (uh? what's this? I can't even pronounce it)

hydrolyzed vegetable protien (corn,soy,wheat)

monosodium glutamate (uh? more salt? Isn't too much salt bad for us?)

cream (what cream? Its in a box there isn't cream.)

dried tomatoe

sugar (like we need any extra in our diets, yes we need natural sugar but not added to our foods)

artficial color (excuse me, why do we need this in our food)

lactic acid

citric acid (hmm if you have an allergy to citrus products maybe this isn't for you)

natural flavor (where?)

partially hydrogenated soybean and or cottonseed oil (excuse me but didn't we already have at the beginning..over load on soy and oils. Isn't cottonseed oil like a no no? )

calcium lactate

monoglycerides (hmm something tells me heart cloging and artry damning)

onion powder

beef stock (they must be referring to beef bullion powder because beef stock is a liquid)

parsley flakes

spice (what kind?)

garlic powder

yeast extract (what? isn't there some in pasta already?)

mushroom powder (have you ever seen this on the shelve in the spice isle. I haven't.)

silicon dioxide (anticaking agent, what are some sort of plastic model that needs it no we are human)

disodium guanylate

disodium inosinte

butter (seriously, where do I see butter. Is there seriously dried out butter powder yuck!)

ricotta cheese (whey, milkfat, lactic acid, salt) (how the hell you do get ricotta cheese in a powder? YOu don't its not cheese if its in a powder. Do you see ricotta cheese powder on the spice area in your local grocery store? Tell me when you do, and I might close my mouth).

cheddar cheese (milk, cheese, cultures, salt enyzmes) (hint the only way I can get my kids to say its cheesy is by adding real cheddar cheese but wait didn't they say there was cheddar cheese in it already).

corn syrup (isn't this stuff suppose to be unhealthy for your blood sugar factor, definitely not diabete or hypoglyemic friendly)

natural flavors (where may I ask)

colors (carmel color, yellow flakes 5 & 6, yellows 5 & 6)(aren't unnatural dies suppose to contribute to add and adhd?)

egg (if you have an egg allergy which we do in our family then its not a good idea to eat this)

Warning: Contains Wheat, Soy, and Egg in ingridents (now they put a freakin warning label at the end instead of the beginning. Don't you all agree the warning labels need to be at the top of the box instead of the bottom).

I totally get why people buy this and eat it. Its cheap, easy, and quick but is it easy and quick for your body to actually digest this stuff.

Okay, so my Dh and I are in a hugh fight over food right now. So, we have allergies to both eggs and citrus. He wonders why he gets sick after eatting this stuff on a regular basis. I won't mention the other stuff he brought home. Oh yeah its even worse.

So, we had a screaming match over what to keep and what to return. So, he gets to sleep in a nice made up bed, and clean room while I am sleeping on the couch and will probably crash on the floor of the kids bedroom later on today from exhaugstion since I am awake at 3 am in the morning instead of sleeping.

The only thing that is giving me peace is the fact that no one and I mean no one can give me crap about what I am doing at the moment. it is quit peaceful and tranquil.
