Wednesday Recipe Thread

We haven't yet tried the pasta and tree recipe. We did try this one from Cooking rocks by Rachael Ray.

Hot Dog Pizza's

4 large plain bagels, egg, or seasme bagels spilt in half (found at dollar tree for a $1.00)

1 bottle of ketchup (1.00 for generic wal-mart)

1 sack of shredded cheddar cheese (2.00 small bag at walmart)

2-4 hot dogs depending on the number of people you are serving (1.00 if you get the cheap hot dogs)

scallions (green onions) snipped with kitchen scissors (1.38 walmart)

sweet or dill pickle relish for garnish ($1.00 wal-mart

Make Pizzas:
Have your Gh (grown up helper) place a rack in the center of the oven. Preheat the broiler. Place bagels on a cookie sheet and put them in the oven to toast. When the bagels are toasted have the GH pull them out. Let the toast bagels cool about 5 minutes. Have Gh switch the oven setting to 400 F.

Squirt ketchup all around each bagel; its your hot dog pizza sauce. Top bagels with lots of cheddar cheese. Arrange the sliced hot dogs like pepperoni on a pizza, putting slices all over the top each bagel. Have the Gh put the pizzas back in the oven and cook them until the cheese is bubbly and the hot dog slices are hot 5-6 minutes.

Have the Gh take the pizzas out of the oven and slide them onto a cutting board. Dot pizzas with snipped scallions and relish or serve plain.

Kids thought it was so cool to help cook this recipe. I liked the quick preparation and easy clean up.

My Dh said that it wasn't bad but it wasn't what he expected. So, from our family to yours. Try it rate here on this thread..
